Homemade candles are very easy to make. You can make candles in different colors, shapes, sizes and scent plus you can also decorate them with glitters, ribbons, dried flowers and anything that you can think. Tips for Making Homemade Candles

You can choose from three kinds of wax- soy wax, paraffin wax or beeswax to make your candles. Then you need to have the following items,

v     Wax carrier similar to a double boiler , wooden spoon

v     Mold

v     Mold Release (peanut oil, silicone spray or cooking spray oil)

v     Wick kit, candle wick and wick cutter

v     Hot Plate

v     Scented oils

Cut the wax into several pieces and put them on the upper pot of the double boiler. Put some water in the lower pot. Be careful when melting the wax while stirring it using the wooden spoon. 140 degrees is the preferred temperature in order to melt the wax.

When the wax has melted, you can then add the scent and the color that you want. Keep stirring the wax add all the colors and scents of your choice to the wax. Scented oils such as eucalyptus oil and pine oil are my personal favorites; you can opt for the ones that you like. Once you have added the desired color and scent, keep on stirring the wax to ensure that the color and scent I properly mixed with the wax.

Prepare the molds by spraying the inner walls with oil so that the candles won’t break when you remove it from the mold.

Pour the melted wax into the molds. Do not fill the molds completely. Leave an inch space from the top in the molds.

Insert the wick before the wax hardens.

Leave it overnight to make sure it completely hardens. Take them out the next day by simply inverting the molds upside down. So, if you want to experiment how to make candles, you can start by making one black candle and one black floating candle.
