Stinky The Garbage Truck

Tag: Games & ToysJanice @ 2:58 pm

It’s never too early to start to teach your kids about being aware of their responsibility in respect of the environment, litter and waste, so let’s hear it for Stinky the Garbage truck!  Suitable for ages 3+, this truck, likely to be one of the top Christmas ‘must have’ toys for 2010, is a new addition to the Matchbox Big Rig Buddies range.

The truck’s friendly approach, which includes singing and jolly set phrases, is sure to be a hit with younger children and will gain their attention as to what it means to actively dispose of waste.  It’s a great vehicle (pun definitely intended) for starting to educate your children on what does and does not constitute waste, what is acceptable to dispose of through garbage collection, what needs to be locally recycled and what can be reused in the home or passed on.

The truck offers all of the play value traditionally expected of Matchbox, with its gleaming, colorful body work and chunky wheels for push-along fun, but the toy is also bang up to date with interactive features which include motorized movement and sound activated motion sensors and direction sensors.   The truck shares its own ‘dump’ awareness with the kids with its container sensor and belly sensor speakers, to share the fun of being ‘full up’.   There are also over 90 sounds, to keep children entertained and educated for well beyond the Christmas period.

With Christmas being the time of year when waste in the western world is at its peak, this is a great toy for subtle education in what it means to dump waste and to be wasteful, but with all the fun of a brand new toy. Stinky the Garbage Truck is also a brand new talking friend who is going to amuse and entertain your little ones this Christmas!

For other popular top toys this Christmas, have a  look at the new Toy Story 3 range of toys, particularly the Buzz Lightyear Jet Pack figure.

Building with Lego Blocks and Lego Mindstorms

Tag: Games & ToysJanice @ 8:08 pm

The world small babies inhabit is so different to the world  as we know it; they find out all about their environment  through their senses, through touching and putting objects in  their mouths. Lego building blocks hold huge appeal for young  children and as soon as they are able to, you will find them  joining bricks together and pulling them apart again. As they  get older and bored with Lego building blocks, the clever and  educational Lego Mindstorms will keep them busy for a long  time to come as well.

Created in Denmark over nearly 70 years ago, Lego has  captured the imagination of millions of children and their  parents all over the world. Lego has become so popular that  it is not uncommon to know granparents who played with Lego  in their childhood and to see that their grandchildren are  playing with Lego now. The small, interlocking, bright Lego  blocks can be easily interlocked together to create many  different objects and can also be pulled apart just as easily  to dismantle everything and start over again.

Lego blocks make a great toy for curious young minds but can  be a source of huge annoyance for many a grown-up because of  the mess they make all over the house. Your home will be  littered with these brightly colored blocks for sure and you can guarantee that you will find Lego pieces in the most unimaginable of places.

Whilst Lego might be annoying to some moms becuse of the mess  it creates in the home, they will overlook this in favor of  the hours of creative fun and play that their children will  have with their Lego building blocks. Lego building blocks have been with us for nearly 7 decades and have firmly stood the test of time to emerge and a genuine favorite with small children all over the world.

Fill A Kid’s Room With Dinosaur toys

Tag: Games & ToysJanice @ 11:54 pm

A kid’s room is a place that serves many different functions and just a place for sleeping is only a small part of what that room gets used for. They serve as a play room, sanctuary, and sometimes for a little while as a jail cell. Keeping them neat is another chore that most kids fine arduous to stay on top of, but maybe of that room is decorated as a wild play room it might be easier to get their assistance in keeping it clean. All kids seem to love dinosaurs and filling the room with dinosaur toys and even dinosaur bedding as the main decoration turns the room from just a place to sleep to a fun room with a herd of dinosaurs to keep in their place.

Dinosaur bedding comes as a comforter and then sheets and pillowcases and depending on the age of your child, you can find realistic, menacing dinosaurs to cover those sheets and pillowcases or even cartoon-like dinosaurs for younger kids. Either way, the child’s imagination is stoked by getting to the sleep with dinosaurs and they can be the dinosaur-keeper who needs to keep al of the dinosaurs in line and in their own place in the room.

Dinosaur toys likewise, run the gamut from soft, teddy bear like stuffed animals to realistic interactive pets that roar and stomp around looking for prey. Again age appropriate toys are the best choice as they will be the ones that get used the most. There are even Dinosaur Train toys out there, so if your child is a fan of that show they can indulge their interest and get shirts and train set to be just like Buddy and his family.

Maybe it’s a stretch to think that dinosaurs will really help in keeping your child’s room neat and picked up, but making a chore into a game is one way to make it fun and get your child into the routine of picking up the room.

Where To Find The Best Wii Deals

Tag: Games & ToysJanice @ 7:29 pm
When shopping for a game console, you want to be sure you’ve checked more than just your local retail big box stores or game stops.  The online stores have the ability to undercut pricing even if it’s only by a few bucks, it’s common knowledge that for the best deals you need to buy online.  If you’re wondering what is the best Wii package on the market right now, the Wii bundle is probably the best deal going.
When you buy the Wii, you will likely get it home, and put it together, and start to play, when suddenly, everyone around you will also want to play too.  Do you want to find yourself with only one controller in a situation like that?  No way!  Buying a bundle simply means you’re buying  the console bundled together with additional controllers, nunchucks, accessories like the MotionPlus, and perhaps some other items.
Wii bundles also come with games included. The standard Wii bundle has the game Wii Sports Resort, the newest take on the original Wii Sports.  With sports like jet skiing, basketball, cycling, canoeing, and Frisbee, you can bet you’ll find some competitors to join in the game. You can also find Wii bundles that include other sports games, or action games, or kids games like Mario Party 8.  Prices will vary depending on how many controllers, how many games, and how many other accessories are included.  The total price of a bundle deal will usually be 10-15% less than the price you would pay if you purchased all of the items separately.  If you think you’ll buy them eventually anyway, why not get a complete bundle right up front, and save?
When you shop for the package deal, search both for Wii bundles, but also some stores have a build your own package deal.  At WalMart online for example, for a single price, you get the Wii console, plus your choice of accessories and games, for one flat price.  That’s the beauty of the Wii bundle deal.  Buying a package means you can get started playing right out of the box, and have friends or family join in.
