How to decorate a Christmas tree

Tag: Seasonal HolidaysJanice @ 9:12 pm

Christmas is all about merriment, decorations, and of course, Christmas trees. Christmas trees never fail to give enhancement to a dull interior and add life to the character of the house. However, the Christmas tree does not need to be expensive to look good. It just needs proper organization, artistic mind, and some colorful items.

Choose a younger, greener, and medium-sized tree and cut part of it. Set the tree immediately into the water. Place tree in a stand that has water reservoir and make sure that the reservoir is always filled from time to time. For the decorations, place lighting first. Whether it is series lights or steady lights, it is more ideal to place lights with different colors for a more appealing look. Then follow it with garlands. Rummage through your used garlands from last year’s Christmas season in those Uhaul boxes to save. The decoration of the ornaments shall then follow. Hang the ornaments with proper distribution. Hang some on the tip of the branches of the tree while the others in the insides of the branches for a fuller effect. It is more ideal to make a themed decoration for the tree. If you opt for balls, it is more recommended to make use of Christmas balls as the main decoration for continuity. Go for balls with similar sizes and of similar kind. If you think you need more decorations and ornaments, check them out at thrift stores or in garage sales to avail of cheaper ornaments. Meanwhile, to make the tree look good and more appealing, tidy the area well. Put those scattered Power Rangers games of your kid in place. Make sure everything is organized for a tidy look. Try an Upside Down Christmas Tree for a Space-Saving and Unique Look

Tag: Seasonal HolidaysJanice @ 1:41 am

The upside down Christmas tree tradition stems from an ancient European pagan custom of spreading tree branches on floors, window ledges, and hearths in order to ward off malevolent spirits. Around the twelfth century A.D., European Christians developed a notion of combining pagan ritual with their religious beliefs. The traditional pagan evergreen was hung upside down in order to represent the Holy Trinity. Over time, the practice was banned as sacrilege, but the practical benefits of keeping decorations safe from destruction by small children or pets while saving space are hard to ignore. Today, it can be a unique and easy space-saver in even the smallest homes where floor space is too valuable to spare.

Available in a variety of styles and colors, and heights ranging from three feet to nine feet, it is easier than ever to find an upside down Christmas tree that is the perfect fit for your home. Prelit models are even available, relieving you of the often frustrating task of stringing lights on your tree.

Decorating an Upside Down Christmas Tree

Its unusual nature will make your upside down Christmas tree a stunning and festive decoration no matter which room it is in. Do try to keep the following in mind as you decorate your upside down tree.

1. Keep your ornaments simple and elegant. Your tree, hanging from the ceiling, will already be a focal point.
2. Find a theme, whether conventional or less traditional, for your tree and decorations.
3. If you’re feeling very industrious, you can even paint the ceiling around the tree to add to the festive environment.

When you are shopping for your upside down Christmas tree, you may have the most luck and find the most variety at an online Christmas-tree-shop. Wholesale and retail shops, locally or even overseas, may have just the tree to kick your home’s holiday spirit into high gear.

On Black Friday specials for 2010

Tag: Seasonal HolidaysJanice @ 1:40 pm

Black Friday is a great day if you love shopping. There are many ways you can make Black Friday 2010 a successful shopping day. You can shop in great retail shops or online. It is all up to you. Both online and normal shopping come with advantages and disadvantages. For example if you decide to go for normal shopping you will have the disadvantage of having to face the shopping rush. Everyone is searching for the perfect gifts on Black Friday so you might end up in an extremely crowded shop. You may not even be able to find the product you are interested in.

On the other hand you could go for online Black Friday specials. Black Friday specials on the internet have the advantage that they are available for more time. While the Black Friday deals in real retail shops are only available on the day that we actually call Black Friday, internet Black Friday specials are available for a longer period. One more serious advantage is that you will not need to face an annoying crowd of people in order to buy the product you want.

So what Black Friday specials can you find through online sales? Well just about anything. Do you want a new computer? Buy a new one on Black Friday and you will save a few dollars. You can get a Black Friday deal on about any kind of IT product. You can find great desktop computers or good laptop computers. If you do not use your computer for very complex operations and you travel a lot you can go for a netbook. You will even find touch screen laptops and desktops on Black Friday at special offers!

If you want to buy your kid a gift this winter you could get him a PlayStation or Xbox on Black Friday. But be aware of the fact that you may end up losing time on console games as well. They are very addictive.

In my opinion online sales on Black Friday are probably the best way to get good deals. You do not end up staying in a crowd, but you still get great offers. The only disadvantage I see is that you will not be able to see the product effectively until you actually receive it. If you are buying an expensive device it may be a good idea to test it in an IT shop before ordering it online. Good luck!

Halloween Costumes For Less

Tag: Seasonal HolidaysJanice @ 8:57 pm

Every year, people spend hundreds of dollars on Halloween costumes. Most large party companies and commercial costume stores will charge big bucks for a full fun and flashy outfit. Most people run out the night before Halloween and try to scrounge together an outfit. Therefore, they are left to buy full put together outfits at retail prices. By planning a few days ahead and being creative, you can put together a rad Halloween costume for half the price of what big stores are selling them for.

The first thing to do is look around the house for costume ideas that incorporate clothing you already own. This way you can save money by centering your costume around an item that is right at your fingertips. Take that plaid shirt, pair of suspenders or old waitress apron and get the creative juices flowing. Next, decide on what must be bought. You may able to scrounge together enough pieces to create say a vampire costume, but nothing will pull it together better than a pair of vampire contacts. So if you are going to splurge on one bought item, then get the contacts. Make it an item that will really pull the outfit together if you are going to go out and spend money.

Take advantage of thrift stores. You can get great prices and find really interesting stuff. In fact, if nothing is coming to mind from your house, check out Good Will or Salvation Army first. You may be able to get one thing from there and make an entire outfit out of it. Sometimes the best outfits are the ones put together from scratch, not store bought. Little things like adding an empty Captain Morgan bottle to an outfit and saying you’re a pirate are cost effective ways to bringing a Halloween outfit together for less. Halloween is a fun time because nowadays there are endless possibilities for costumes. Don’t be afraid to be ambiguous or witty, it makes guessing the costume more fun!
