3 Budget Halloween Decorating Tips
Halloween decorations are part of the fun of Halloween celebrations, but they can get expensive. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to create awesome looking Halloween decor even if you’re on a tight budget. Let’s take a look at some of these here.
1. Make Simple Halloween Props
You can save money when decorating for Halloween by making some of your own props. It’s very easy to create things like hanging spiders using pipe cleaners, tissue or other commonly available materials. You could also try cutting out ghoulish shapes using black paper, and sticking them in the windows – these will look very effective at night. Hanging ghost props can also be made easily from old white sheets. If you have kids, ensure that they get involved as well, as this will help keep them occupied.
2. Scary Music & Lighting
Paying attention to your Halloween lighting and sound effects is another way to create a powerful Halloween atmosphere without spending a lot of money.
For lighting, try picking up some light bulbs in seasonal colours such as orange and red – these will create a spooky glow with little expense or effort on your part. Candles are another cheap way to create a great Halloween ambiance, although probably should not be used if you have pets or children.
Don’t forget about Halloween music and sound effects either. You can pick up CDs or downloads of spooky soundtracks for a few dollars online or in Halloween supply stores, and just one or two of these will go a long way towards building the right atmosphere for your Halloween celebrations.
3. Buy Early For The Best Prices
Another way to save money on Halloween decorations is to buy them well before Halloween actually comes around. You will often find that retailers charge more in the run-up to Halloween, and then reduce their prices throughout the rest of the year. And if you really want to save money, the best time to buy is often the first week in November, as a lot of stores will put their Halloween stock on sale at this time, often at dramatically reduce prices. It’s also worth buying Halloween decorations online, as internet retailers tend to have lower prices overall, thanks to their lower overheads.
