The benefits of off-season holidays to Scotland
If you like peace and seclusion and enjoy the great outdoors then taking a trip to Scotland for your annual holiday may be one of the best options for you. Scotland is a great place to visit at any time of year – but the autumn is especially pleasant.
There are a number of reasons why the Autumn is a pleasant time to visit Scotland but here are just three of them:
Peace and Quiet
Most of the busy tourist areas are quiet at this time of year; you can go waling in the hills and mountains and not see a soul all day. If you fancied doing a bit of shopping you will also find that the shops are a lot quieter too. At the beginning of autumn – later September – you will find that there are still many tourist attractions still operating such as the steamers on the lochs and cable cars should you wish to do something different.
Low Cost Accommodation
Self catering accommodation at this time of year is very cheap; you can hire a static caravan, log cabin or holiday cottage for less than £200 for a week. If there is a group of you going on holiday this works out to be very cost effective. Static caravan holiday sites will often offer children’s entertainment clubs so if the weather isn’t great they will at least be kept entertained.
Stunning Scenery
The scenery at this time of year is simply stunning in Scotland. The trees are just turning colour and you still get the odd mild day. It is certainly one of the most beautiful times of year that you could visits Scotland. If you are lucky you may also get to see the last of the heather but this would only happen if it were particularly mild.
